Review: Napoleon bar end mirror

The stock mirrors on my Blur scooter were just not cutting it. So I ordered a Napoleon Bar End Mirror.

With the stock mirrors I could only see off to the sides of the bike. When the mirrors were adjusted so I could see behind the bike, then about half of the mirror would be blocked by my elbow.

A bar end mirror connects to the end of the handle bar. It hangs farther out from the bike. By placing the mirror an extra 10-12 inches out you get a much better field of vision.

To install it, I first cut the end end off of the Blur's rubber handle bar grip.

The Blur's handle bar is made from about 7/8 inch hollow tubing. Once a hole was cut into the grip, I just slid the mirror in. The mirror has a compression nut, so it just tightens it up. The right handle bar grip has the throttle assembly. There is a plastic cover over the end of the handle bar. To install a mirror on that side you would probably need to cut an extra hole through that.

For now I just have the one mirror.

I was worried that the mirror would vibrate a lot. So far it has been just as steady as the stock mirror. The bar end mirror is much more useful than the stock mirrors. The only downside is they hang out farther. If you are a lane splitter they could definitely get in the way. The bar end mirror works much better than the stock ones. I don't understand why more people don't use them.
